James Anthony (Tony) Lyons
2012-07-20After serving in Vietnam, broadcasting on Radio WSM, hosting at the Grand Ole Opry and owning and operating Mulligan's Pub in downtown Nashville until just before his passing, Tone indicated to me in our several conversations that he had become a better person over the years and that he cherished his new life and, particularly, his daughter. My conclusion was that his humility was overwhelming and he proffered no pretense. We spoke on the telephone briefly a few days before July 20 and he told me, as he had before in e-mails, that he would keep us in the loop but he had stopped playing his Martin guitar. In my mind, we are all still in the loop and Tone is still "pickin' and singin'". Just another Class of 63 'Class Act'. Bomber
