Donald N. Anderson, 84, of 397 Hallock St., died peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2016, in his home.
A native of Jamestown, he was born March 5, 1932, a son of the late Alvin "Aubby" and Ruth Rolfe Anderson.
He was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Buffalo State University in 1959 and in 1968 received a master's degree in education. For more than 30 years he was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as an art teacher at Jamestown High School. For many of those years he was faculty advisor to the annual yearbook.
Don contributed to the City of Jamestown by serving on Jamestown Planning Commission for 10 years and Jamestown Civil Service Commission for 12 years, 10 of which he served in the capacity of chairman. He was also very involved in politics.
He was a longtime member of Chautauqua Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sandra Lake, whom he married June 7, 1958; two sons: Christopher (Linda) Anderson of Jackson, Mich., and Lars-Peter (Robert Garfink-el) Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Tanya Anderson of Jamestown; two grand-daughters: Hannah and Em-ily Anderson both of Jamestown; and a sister, Susan Bastian of Jamestown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eric Anderson; and a sister, Patricia Shults.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. No funeral service will be ob-served.
