Jimmy N. Marks Sr., 72, of 1331 Wellman Road, Ashville, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, in his home.



He was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Normantown, W. Va., a son of the late Forest and Reta Smith Marks.



He was a 1963 graduate of Jamestown High School.





Prior to his retirement, he worked many years at Blackstone Enterprises as a tool and die machinist and earlier had worked for Jamestown Metal Corporation.





Jim was a loving husband and father who spent his time enjoying his family, reading history, drinking coffee and was known to many as a jack of all trades who was always willing to lend a hand.



Surviving are his wife, Patricia Rissel Marks, whom he married Feb. 12, 1967; three children: Shadeen and her husband, Johnny Pate of Longview, Texas, Jimmy Marks Jr., of Ashville, and Ladena Marks and her fiance, Jeremy Nalbone of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Emma Pate of Longview, Texas; two sisters: Barbara (Jack) Garvey of Ashville and Bonnie (Ed) Derry of Jamestown; three sister-in- laws: Wendy Giunta of Jamestown, Sandra (Allan) Meeder of Sherman, and Julia (Jack) Howard of Idaho; one brother-in-law Doug (Brenda) Rissel of Falconer; and one lifelong friend, Bill (Lucille) Hall of Jamestown.



Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marlene Marks; a brother, Forest D. Marks; and his beloved dog, Tobie.



He was baptized at New Covenant Assembly.



A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in New Covenant Assembly Church. The Rev. K. Trevor Coburn will officiate.



Visitation will not be observed.
